Delayed gratification with “The Office”

I was really excited to watch the new episodes of 30 Rock and The Office last Thursday. I was talking about it ALL week and then Thursday came and was sitting at the edge of my seat waiting for the best night in television.
Of course, the “MILF Island” episode of 30 Rock lived up to my expectations. But I was more excited with “The Dinner Party” episode of The Office.
After watching it, I was a little underwhelmed. I was disappointed. I was expecting to see everyone in the familiar surroundings of the Dunder Mifflin office. I was expecting the awkward hijinks, Michael’s irritating jokes, Dwight’s insane know-it-all comments, Jim’s playful glances to the camera, Kelly’s high-pitched pop culture references and most of all, I wanted to hear Pam say “Dunder Mifflin this is Pam.”
A lot of that didn’t happen - which is why I was upset.
Yesterday, I decided to replay it on my DVR, and to my surprise, I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it a lot: Jan’s neurosis, Michael’s domestic abuse, the cuteness of Pam and Jim, Angela and Andy’s budding dysfunctional relationship and of course, Dwight. But the best - the best part of this episode is the soon-to-be most downloaded song from iTunes: “That One Night” by Jan’s former assistant, Hunter from his album “The Hunter.”
Is it even available on iTunes? If not, it should be.
Check out this deleted scene. I wouldn’t have minded if it was in the episode…
