Now I am officially tired of Sex

…and the City that is.
Yesterday, I said that I was almost tired of “Sex and the City,” now my bubble has popped, oozing with the estrogen of the quartet of fashionable ladies on the successful television show.
I think I have heard one too many Cosmo/high-heel/Mr. Big references since Monday. Actually, since the announcement of the movie has been made. I thought I’d be excited to blog about the red carpet premiere in NY - but even that was like pulling teeth. In all honesty, I didn’t really give a fuck about the red carpet premiere. There have been like 50 red carpet premieres all over the world for this damn movie already. Commenting on their high-end designer gowns was just filler for my Dressed blog because it was appropriate for this annoying unofficial “Sex and the City” week.
I officially got tired of the movie when I read this in an article online:
“I expect it to be like getting together with people you haven’t seen in a long time. You want to know what they’ve been up to,” says Donna Lynn Rhodes of Walnut Creek. “At first it might be a little awkward. But then it will be like just old times and you’ll wonder why you didn’t get together sooner.”
I’m a bonafide SATC fan as well, but I know that these are fictional characters. I can relate to some of the characters, but they are not my friends. They are characters on the screen. The ho who said this makes me think that she thinks these people are real. What the fuck?
I am going to a screening of the movie in a couple of hours, plus, I am interviewing one of the lesser-known stars of the franchise Willie Garson (a.k.a. Stanford). I am not that excited and I should be. Maybe I should’ve followed my friend, Janet’s lead and avoided everything SATC-related until it actually came out in the movie theater. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have Sex and the City fatigue.
At this point, I am not excited, but curious. If the movie delivers, maybe I will have a change of heart, but right now, I am just so over people in my office talking about this fucking movie. Let’s move on to something else…like So You Think You Can Dance….now that’s something I am looking forward to this summer!
