As I sit here watching (but not paying attention to) a DVR’d episode of Heroes and worrying about a big Hayward fault earthquake (it’s the 140th anniversary of the famous quake – isn’t it morbid in how they celebrate that shit?), I am forcing myself to post because my brain is drained from writing all day. First, I had to write up a past due article for AsianWeek on a girl named Constance who created a “Perfect Little Black Dress” collection, then I had to write a piece on Halston Retrospective in SF (the one where I met Andre Leon Talley), a dedication to the late Mr. Blackwell and a condom fashion event I went to last week. I also did wrote up some posts for my StyleHive gig that won’t go up until later, so I can’t show them to you right now – but click here often to check when they will go up.

Needless to say, my brain is fried. I just want to lay down and catch up on episodes of Mad Men because Heroes no longer tickles my pickle. I don’t even know what the hell is going on with all this mess.

But I should be thankful that I do have time to write on this blog at all – I have been SO busy because I am really popular. Okay – whatever. I am just being lazy.

Here are some highlights, in no particular order, of what’s been going on the past couple of weeks:

1.) This weekend I went to the Estelle, Roots and Gym Class Heroes concert and it was, in a word, disappointing. It was at the San Jose Events Center which is ultimately a gym. The venue sucked, the crowd made me feel old and the concert itself was lame because I couldn’t hear anything. The music sounded like it was coming from a worn out cassette tape. The acoustics sucked. But it was fun watching people with no rhythm dance and seeing those questionable puffs of smoke come from the audience. Oh yeah – I really enjoyed that churro.

2.) I got my voter’s registration card in the mail! I am officially a registered Californian voter!

3.) My friend Zaid came into town this weekend – and last night, I stayed out later than normal, devouring garlic fries from Gordon Biersch and I honed my abilities as a soon-to-be Olympic dart player at a random bar called “Steff’s” on 2nd with him, Steve, Joann and Jojo.

4.) I drank a salted caramel hot coco at Starbucks. I got really bad gas, but I slept well.

5.) I told my class that if they don’t dress up in Halloween costumes next week, that they will get an F. I hope they know I was joking.

6.) I met Andre Leon Talley – oh wait – I said that already.

7.) I am almost done with “Eclipse” from the “Twilight” series. Yes, I am still obsessed. In fact, I forced my students to watch the trailer for the movie.

8.) I made my monthly trip to Medjool in the Mission to inhale a plate of that sweet potato dish – that shit is good. Oh – and their dungeness crab falafel is my jam.

9.) I went to an opening celebration of a building inhabited by a bunch of artists in the Mission. I was invited by the twin brothers of the fashion label, Dcepcion. It was fun. Someone even mistook me for one of the twin brothers. I felt kind of awkward and famous at the same time.

10.) I watched W.. If anything, watch it to laugh at Thandie Newton’s portrayal of Condoleeza Rice. That shit had me rollin’.
