I was at the gym.

I feel like I should’ve been doing something really exciting on such a historical day, but instead I was on the elliptical machine next to housewives and retired gentlemen in a local gym in the suburbs. Exciting huh?
And as the day went on…I continued to slum it while the world was changing and history was being made. But I did write about Michelle’s much anticipated garb (click here and here to read!).
Well I take all of that back. Later on in the day, I, like Michelle glammed it up a little bit with an old pair of DKNY jeans, Spider Man T-shirt and a – get ready for this – a Barneys New York cashmere hoodie! I looked so fancy while sitting on my couch in front of the TV; writing and catching up on my emails.
So 20 years from now, when someone asks me “What were you doing on that historic day when Barack Obama took office?” my answer will be just as historical.
Was I in DC amongst the swarms of people? No. Was I at an extravagant gala in SF? No. Was I partying up like a frat boy, doing keg stands at an outdoor Obama festival? No. Was I at a smelly gym in a Hanes V-neck tee and gym shorts? Yes…yes I was…and YES WE CAN.
I can also say that my wrist was hurting from snowboarding the week before. That’s a good memory marker.
Congrats to the Obama family. I hope your day was as exciting as mine.
Don’t they look fabulous folks? (AP Photo/Charles Dharapak)
