As a former choir geek (and I was also in band…and in Science Club…and National Honor Society…and vice president of the Math Club) I loved, repeat LOVED, the first episode of Glee.
Then I’ve seen all the hype it’s been getting. I was getting worried about all this hype. Superfluous amount of hype can kill the integrity of a show. It’s like expecting the hottest guy to ask you to prom and then he ends up asking someone else hotter than himself. It’s devastating.
Nonetheless, my concern for the through-the-roof hypeness of this show was immediately alleviated when I saw this behind-the-scenes preview of the ‘Gold Digger’ episode:
…and I ain’t even mad at the fact that Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) immediately asked the black girl (Mercedes played by Amber Riley) if she knew Kanye’s song. Sure, it’s a form of stereotyping, but I’ll just let it slide.
