Let’s take a break from the world of New Moon and go into something a little bit more thought-provoking. Karen (my sister) and I had this conversation on the use of the word “jeans” via Blackberry messenger. We had an enlightening conversation about Allen (my brother-in-law) and his interesting logic about using the word:
Karen: Do u say “jean jacket” or “jeans jacket”
Me: Jean jacket. Who said jeans jacket?
Karen: Lol. Allen
Me: That’s fobby
Karen: Cuz he said that we say “blue jeans” not “blue jean”. Hahaha!
Me: There’s no such thing as a singular “jean”
Karen:That’s why he says “jeans jacket”
Me: Just say denim jacket. Jeans jacket doesn’t sound right.
Karen: He also says “mines”
Me: As in “landmines”?
Karen: Like “he has a jeans jacket like mines”
Me: Oh wow.
Come to think of it – it kind of makes sense; but that doesn’t mean I am going around saying “jeans jacket”. That’s just awkward.
