Apparently, someone had the bright idea to televise Fashion’s Night Out come September.

As Variety says, CBS will air “a one-hour special Sept. 15 that covers the fashion industry’s second-annual event, which will have taken place five days prior. Telecast will include preparations made for Fashion’s Night Out, an initiative that began last year as an incentive for consumers to purchase clothing and accessories during tough economic times.”

Oh my God. I am already kinda bored. And by the time it airs, FNO will be old news. Why even bother?

“The message is clear: Responsible spending can breathe new life into the economy, and that means job,” said exec producer Susan Zirinsky to Variety. “Fashion’s Night Out is a self-styled stimulus package by the fashion industry that has ignited a global movement.”

Not that I don’t agree with Fashion’s Night Out – I was actually there and it was semi-fun. But does it really need to take valuable television space? That air time could go to something like a reincarnation of Circus of the Stars or a redux of Solid Gold.
