You would think that I would be constantly blogging about Glee considering the season premiere is on Tuesday (it runs into Lost – thank the heavens for DVR) – but I think there is enough coverage on the phenomenon. In fact, the coverage and hype may be borderline overkill – but that’s a totally different story.

For now, I will just relish the moment. I have been VERY cognizant of how much Glee info I let into my pop culture orbit. There has been this onslaught of “Gleek Week” activities that I have avoided because I do not want to be oversaturated with Glee. Too much of what I think is a good thing can get exhausting. In other words, I don’t want the same thing that happened with Ugly Betty to happen with Glee. I thought Betty was so great and groundbreaking and then I just got so damn bored with the show – and now look at it. The show is seeing an end this week.

Since Glee came out, I have been semi-obsessed. But as a former choir member and a high school social pariah, the show hits close to home – really close to home. Still, I must keep an arm’s length from the show and set boundaries. I still consider myself a journalist, so I must remain objective – but that doesn’t mean I can’t infuse my adoration for the show in some of my writing assignments.

For one, I wrote a piece for the Bold Italic about starting my own glee club in San Francisco – which, unfortunately didn’t work out. I also have a piece about the Filipina casting call for Sue Sylvester’s maid on 8Asians.com (if it’s not up now, it will be up soon). I am sure I will have more “objective stories” coming soon.

That aside, it wouldn’t be terrible if I was part of this cast. I could be the “Other, other Asian”. Lucky for me, they are having open auditions. I wanted to submit a video of me doing my acoustic version of “Baby” by Justin Beiber, but their auditions require to choose a song from a list.

DRAT! My plan was foiled. I was sure my rendition from the latest pop sensation would make me a SHOE-IN for a spot.

I am not in love with the song choice, but I am up for the challenge. What song do you think I should sing? You choose and I’ll audition and post it on my blog – because I know you’re DYING to see me sing.
