Last week, fashion designer Keanan Duffty participated in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at the brand-new venue of Lincoln Center, but he didn’t use a runway. He used the sidewalk.

The British New Yorker started his own label in 1999. Since then he has created a David Bowie collection for Target, designed for Ben Sherman and has penned a book called “Rebel Rebel: Anti Style” — the latter would probably explain the concept of his guerilla-style show. While decked out in clothes inspired by Spandau Ballet and the “Blitz” and “Billy” nightclubs in 1979/1980 London, the models carried signs that had lyrics from ’80s pop songs by Kraftwerk and Adam Ant. Even though they were parading around Lincoln Center staging this protest, they really weren’t protesting anything at all — which was probably the appeal.
