In this new segment on The Finer Dandy, we will explore what has been infecting the pop cultural zeitgeist. (In this particular blog post title, “geist” is pronounced like “yeast.”)

There has been an enormous amount of news about hair in the zeitgeist. It is quite geist-y.

From the hair on top of our head to the hair on our faces (thank you Brian Wilson), it has been flowing through the veins of the geist for the past couple of months.

The popular Brazilian Blowout has been surrounding me. Nearly every woman I know has or is thinking about getting the hair-straightening procedure. There was even a Groupon for it. More recently, it has been making the news because, apparently, one of the ingredients in the Brazilian Blowout concoction contains formaldehyde – and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, right? RIGHT?

Having hair that long can’t be healthy. If you really think of it, it’s kind of disgusting.
