I must admit — the last two episodes of Community have been underwhelming, but it was all a set up for Thursday’s episode where the gang played Dungeons and Dragons in an attempt to un-alienate an at-risk overweight boy who is a fan of the magical world of role playing games.

I had many hand-over-mouth snort laughing moments in the episode which include: copious amounts of dork-out D&D references, ethereal Gaelic singing, an imaginary Pegasus, a love scene between Abed’s elf maiden and Annie’s character of Hector the Well-Endowed, a woman with a British accent doing some Narnia-worthy voiceover work, Britta’s attachment to gnomes, Pierce’s staple humorous politically incorrect jabs, Troy’s overuse of the celebratory word “HAZZAH!” and the best line of the evening said by Shirley to Chang:

So we’re just going to ignore that hate crime, huh?
