Alex Pettyfer and Teresa Palmer in ‘I Am Number Four’

I Am Number Four hits theaters on February 18 and there are a couple of things that the movie will definitely accomplish:

1.) It will launch Alex Pettyfer into the U.S. celeb stratosphere (stay tuned for the interview I had with the Euro boy du jour).

2.) It will offer another teen-friendly franchise for everyone to obsess about — including me. (Next on my list: Hunger Games)

3.) It will take Dianna Agron out of the world Glee — whether or not her character is vastly different from Quinn is up for debate.

4.) It offers a modest look at the work of San Francisco-based creative team of Ian Hannula and Joe Haller — the minds behind N.I.C.E. Collective.

The two were asked to create costumes for the fantasy/sci-fi movie about an alien teen who is on the run from a band of baddies who want to kill him and everyone else like him.

“The sci-fi genre is one which is close to our hearts, therefore, we can be quite discerning with what we embrace,” says Haller. “During the inception of I Am Number Four, elements of the wardrobe sketches were influenced by designs and production of the N.I.C.E. Collective ‘Time Machine’ show during NYC fashion week in Fall ’09. The producers contacted us to create hybrids garments based upon a few collection/archive pieces and the concept of the film. We frequently collaborate with the entertainment industry — partially because we focus on innovation rather than celebrity.”

“We are dreamers and we are builders,” adds Hannula. “We are attracted to other people and genres which mix passion and thought.”

Well, you know what they say: if you build it, they will come.
