Memorable Moments in ‘Scream’: Casey Becker’s Big Moment
by dino-ray on Apr 12, 2011 • 6:17 am No CommentsThe only thing that matters to me this week is the release of Scream 4. I do have appreciation for the blood-curdling horror movies that came before it, but Scream has to be the best slasher movie franchise of my generation. That said, throughout the week, I am highlighting some of my favorite moments in the franchise; the first being the most E-P-I-C death scene in a Wes Craven movie: the slicing and dicing of Casey Becker.
At what moment in this scene could Casey (who, in a wonderful marketing stunt, was played by Drew Barrymore) have prevented her death? There are many answers to this query. One being she shouldn’t have answered the phone the second time OR maybe her family should have invested in Caller I.D. (it was available in 1996, right?) — but if she didn’t answer the phone, we wouldn’t have been treated to Drew’s crooked mouth cry AND we wouldn’t have been treated to the most AWESOME bloody introduction to this Craven ghost-faced masterpiece.
P.S. Please note my overuse of italicizing words to note mood-altering inflection in the text.
