Madonna is the center square between actresses Andrea Riseborough (left) and Abbie Cornish at the premiere of the film, W.E. at the 68th Annual Venice Film Festival

Last week, Madonna debuted W.E. at the Venice Film Festival. This is Madge’s second crack at directing and she tackles some heavy content: Wallis Simpson, the U.K. and America’s favorite divorcee from back in the day.

Predictably, the movie garnered not-so-great reviews, but homegirl shook them haters off and announced that she will be droppin’ her next album in the Spring 2012 via this interview with some random European channel:

Could it be this movie is just a marketing vehicle for her next album? Who cares? Who’s That Girl?, Shanghai Surprise and A League of Their Own will forever remain awesome.

The most important thing is that she’s still rich and iconic…and that’s what we all should learn from this.
