Created by Lena Dunham and backed by the executive producing chops of Judd Apatow and Jenni Konner, Girls is forecasted to be the cool show for twenty (and even thirty)-something females.

Girls premise is pretty straightforward: a writer Hannah (Dunham) and her rag tag group of gal pals (played by Jemima Kirke and Allison Williams) trying to keep their head above water in this crazy world — New York City to be exact.

Sure, there are flashes of similarities between Girls and 2 Broke Girls — and even Sex and the City. But this doesn’t necessarily seem like the toxically effervescent odd couple chemistry that Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs share nor is it a show where “the city is a character” and everyone whores around in designer clothing.

Take a look at the trailer:

Now THAT looks and sounds more like New York.

Girls premieres on HBO in April 2012.
