The last song I sang on karaoke was Whitney Houston‘s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”. It was at an engagement party and even though I was a little sick, I brought the house down. I was a diva. I tore that shit up. And while performing it, I kept on thinking, “I hope I am doing justice to Whitney. I am sure she would be proud of this performance.”

On Saturday when the gut-wrenching news of Whitney Houston death was announced, Facebook was FLOODED with people posting their favorite Whitney song. I wanted to post my favorite song by the icon as well — but I wanted to go for her less common ones. Although I adore Whitney’s aforementioned dance hit (it was a WSOTW a while back), I didn’t really want to post that one — so I decided to go with her cover on Chaka Khan‘s anthem of female empowerment, “I’m Every Woman”. It is definitely the embodiment of Whitney and it was during the defining Bodyguard moment of her career. Plus, it’s a sassy jam!

Ah Whitney, you will be missed.
