When the top five movies from the Labor Day weekend box office were announced, this is how people reacted:

1.) Lee Daniels’ The Butler

2.) One Direction: The is Us….

3.) We’re the Millers

4.) Planes

5.) Instructions Not Included

…and then they were all…

Instructions Not included stars Eugenio Derbez (who also directed it) as a playboy whose life is turned upside down when he unexpectedly left with a daughter from a former fling. Why is this unknown movie a big deal? Well, for one, it’s an independent Spanish language film that only opened in only 347 theaters. Secondly, it doesn’t have any big American marquee names. Third, it raked in $10 million on its first weekend out of the gate against some big-time Hollywood movies. And for all those reasons, opening at number 5 is a big deal…a HUGE deal. The world is officially impressed with this small film that is sure to get bigger.
