How could I not support this crew? Plus, three of them were on SYTYCD, so it’s a given. It’s like a law. If you supported them on SYTYCD, then you have to support them on ABDC…and Hok’s hair alone is reason enough for me to give them half of my endorsement. Oh yeah, and they have the most awesomest B-boy skillz. (you notice how I spelled “skillz”"? The “z” makes me feel more street).

I actually read the results beforehand via blogs that are based in different time zones, but alas, the winner of this season is…

Okay, just joking. The crew that won this season was the one that deserved to win – the best crew. And that best crew is…

SUPER CR3W!

I am so happy! Thank God they won it. I would like to think I had a lot to do with it. I was voting last night and I think it was my votes that put them over the top. And to make things even better – they represented Filipinos with so much PI Sun paraphernalia! Way to go guys! I am so happy I made you win. It was all me.

Okay, that’s a little bit of a reach, but come on, So Real? Really America? This is just proof of how this is more of a popularity contest rather than a competition based on merit.

You don’t know how many people called me last night after the show to tell me how pissed off they were that Fanny Pak went home. They were even madder at the fact that Super Cr3w was in the bottom two with them.

Isn’t it so funny how serious we take these shows? It’s like a matter of life and death. It’s as though the world will end if our favorite crew doesn’t win. Well, in this case, So Real has shifted the balance of the universe by, in some odd way, convincing America that they are better than two crews that are obviously more talented, creative and diverse.

I actually heard the results earlier in the day because of the through-the-grapevine network I am linked to in Texas. Apparently, they shot the show on Tuesday and the names of the final two leaked and it got to me around lunchtime yesterday.

Sure, So Real is a good crew, but they are just like any other Asian dance crew in the nation- maybe a little bit better, but they are not entertaining. They don’t have a “schtick” that makes them a unique crew. They are bland and I don’t see them at the same level as the crews that stand on the same stage. Their b-boy skills are limited, their athleticism is lacking and they’re youth shows with their blatant looks of naiveness.

Yes, I admit it, I am hating.

Fanny Pak shouldn’t have left and Super Cr3w’s name should’ve been called first. This makes me wonder why enough people didn’t call.

One of my friends brought up the fact that people on the West and East Coast don’t really care about MTV and they don’t watch shows like this. And people in the South do nothing but watch MTV. That’s a theory to consider – but I am sure the people just watch and they have strong opinions about the show and then they don’t vote.

But what can we do? America chose the crew they wanted on top. Is it the right choice? That’s up to your judgment. Mine? Super Cr3w needs to win. They are the definition of a crew. I mean, it says it in their name! That dude on Fanny Pak was right – vote for the right crew next week. …busted. It was only a snippet of the performance. Ah, well.

I am watching this show right now and so far the top two crews are: So Real and Super Cr3w – which means Fanny Pak and Boogie Bots are in the bottom.

It also means that Missy is lookin’ quite fierce tonight with her nails did, chunky rings and signature uber-swoop eye covering hair. And was it me or was she lip-syncing tonight?

Anyways, she’s crazy. She is outta control and I’ve loved her since that inflatable trash bag outfit in “The Rain” video.

So here’s how I break it down…

So Real: This performance was the first time I got excited for them. Like everyone else, I loved that intro to their “One Minute Man” routine. Good, concise choreography. And by the way, now that Ailyn’s parents are supporting her dancing, can we stop talking about that now? She’s on nationwide television. That’s all she needed to get love from her parents.

Super Cr3w: SICK. I hate using that word, but his was just out of control. Their song basically summed up their presence on the show: “We Run This.” If they don’t win, I am just going to ban this show from my TV for the rest of my life.

Boogie Bots: “I DO NOT GET EXCITED WHEN I SEE THE BOOGIE BOTS!” Busted. Neither do I. I did like that video game routine they did a while back, but since then, I’ve been…eh. This routine to “Work It” seems a little sloppy. It wasn’t captivating me, but it was okay. And now Shane just said, “I didn’t see one thing in there that tells me you should be on this show.” Hmmmm…I think I know who’s going home.

Fanny Pak:INSANE! FANNY PAK! FANNY PAK! FANNY PAK! THEY DEMOLISHED IT TONIGHT! “Get Your Freak On” indeed. Lil Mama got crunk with her critique – saying something like, “YAWL ARE PROOF THAT AN UNDERDOG CAN MAKE THEIR WAY TO THE TOP!” She was kinda angry but complimenting them at the same time. Oh yeah, it also seems that she resorted back to her collection of sequin baseball weaves. Man, if Fanny Pak ain’t in the top, I don’t know what I am going to do.

Side note: Missy didn’t really get crunk until she saw FP. AND it was the first time the judges gave a unanimous standing ovation!

Needless to say, we know who went home…

Hmmmm…I may just go to the one in Oakland.

Each show has been inconsistent who is good or bad. One week someone “smashes” it, the next week they flounder. Although this show interesting week after week, it makes me impatient because I just want to be a fan of one crew – but unfortunately, the world doesn’t work out that way – that’s why I am a fan of three crews as of now. I am saying “as of now” because that might change next week. I am compartmentalizing the episodes, basing my “favorite” on the most recent show.

That said, as of now, my three fave crews are: Supreme Soul, Super Cr3w and Fanny Pak.

Here’s how they faired this week with the “Dance like a Janet Jackson video” challenge…

Well before all the groups did their thang, they all formed one Ultimate Crew and danced to the classic “Rhythm Nation”

I like how the show is doing this group routine thing. I hope it becomes a regular thing. This first one was pretty damn fun.

As for the individual performances, let’s start with Fanny Pak

I’m proud of Fanny Pak, they were at the top of the heap this week. What can I say? Sex sells. Licking sells. Mounting sells. Girl-on-girl action sells. The routine was hot, but not their strongest. As for Shane’s comment about the guys dancing more like guys, I see the credit in his critique and I also see how it could be taken as an insult. Most of all, I like how as soon as he said it, he tried to get the crowd to back him up. Good damage control Shane.

Supreme Soul’s luck turned around this week as they were in the top. Way to represent the Yay Area guys! The performance – it was good. It was that whole “reeling in” thing that did it for me. Everything else was pretty much expected. I’m rootin’ for ya guys! Don’t let me down!

So Real faced the bottom for the first time this week. And it was an “okay” performance to JJ’s “I Get So Lonely.” It seems like they plateaued and they need something to amp things up more than whip cream and body rolls.

The lovable Boogie Bots ended up at the top and one of their crew members was about to go ballistic because of last week’s lukewarm performance. This week wasn’t lukewarm, but if it wasn’t for that evolution thang they did at the end, it would’ve been. The Bots have some sick tricks, but they are missing a third dimension that will blow the competition out of the water.

Eek! Super Cr3w was in the bottom two this week! What are we to do? Okay, well…I think they, like So Real have plateaued. They need something that will boost them up there. Their b-boy skills are top-notch – no one else on this show can hold a watch to their flaring skills – but something is missing. I bet you if you gave them a dose of Fanny Pak’s creativity, a dash of Supreme Soul’s confidence and a twist of So Real’s choreography style, you would truly have a real Super Crew.
But I’m still supporting you guys! REPRESENT FOR B-BOYS (and wannabe B-boys like me) ALL AROUND THE WORLD!

A.S.I.I.D’s “If” routine was good but it seemed a bit desperate. And considering they were in the bottom two, it was even more so. I wasn’t really entertained. Let this be a testimony and a warning to those groups that have plateaued. Because the kids from A.S.I.I.D. had to hit the road this week…

I think the word of the week is “PLATEAU.”

KHERINGTON and GEV got the boot tonight!

That was a shocker to me. I know I predicted Comfort would go home, but only because I was seeing a pattern. She was in the bottom two, but it was Kherington and her gleaming smile that had to go home.

If I had it my way, Courtney would’ve been sent packing.

But I did predict the bottom two boys correctly: Gev and Mark. I did not like Mark’s solo last night, Gev’s was so much more entertaining…but I guess America had a different plan for the lovable b-boy. He had to hit the road.

Even though I was shocked, I still enjoyed tonight’s performances: a high-energy Bollywood romp, an ethereally dramatic all-female Mia Michaels (I think she was the choreographer) piece and a special all-guy one choreographed by Mr. Nigel Lythgoe…

Kherington and Gev – you will be missed.

America’s Best Dance Crew was also on tonight – but I will post more on that later. It’s been such a long day.

Oh yeah – did I mention I met Sarah Jessica Parker and Nick Verreos (from Project Runway Season 2) today? I didn’t meet them at the same time…but I did get to interview both of them! It was so exciting! But I’ll just leave you hanging, so that you’ll be coming back to my blog for MORE!

Okay, that may be a little harsh. I haven’t had a cig in an hour.

Anyways, this week was the SPED UP CHALLENGE or something. They had to dance to a song that was slow at first and then mix-mastered to a sped up frenzy.

I would start from the beginning, but I just watched Fanny Pack’s ’80s poinsoned prom performance – it was OUTTA CONTROL. THEY KILLED IT.

They killed it so much that they should be arrested for manslaughter.

Ugh. That was a bad analogy. I was just floored by them. I really dig these kids in FP. They are making it hot and showing that not all crew dancin’ has to be hip-hop.

Ummm…as for the others. A.S.I.I.D. tore it up with a hip-hop routine that incorporated ballet point (or is it pointe?) That was H.O.T.

Hmmm…my boys in Super Cr3w did good with their conceptually good golden graf performance, but they need to step up their game. Boogie Bots. And this week, I think So Real had one of their weakest performances yet – it was good, but wasn’t their best.

The bottom two crews were SF homeboys Supreme Soul and Phresh Select (again)…

So I just watched them perform – and SS TORE IT UP!!! That routine was tight like virgin. Then there’s Phresh Select – I wasn’t even enthralled enough to watch it. I think they are going home.

I think Supreme Soul is getting crapped on for no reason – just because they’re cocky, don’t mean they don’t deserve to get the votes. (notice the use of bad grammar to show my anger) Vote on the talent, not on attitude. Then again, maybe they should’ve just not said anything about that battle with Jabba in the first episode.

And let’s just talk about what the hell JC is wearing. He looks like some sort of butler/valet/trying-to-hard-prom-date. And Lil’ Mama continues to showcase her arsenal of bedazzled bedazzlments. And Shane is rockin’ that IRON MAN shirt! That’s FIRE!

But now…who is gonna go home???

PHRESH SELECT’s BANNER MUST FALL!

I wasn’t diggin’ this week’s challenge. It didn’t seem as fun. And I wonder how long it will take for those members of Super Cr3w to wash off that gold paint.
