I am so happy! Thank God they won it. I would like to think I had a lot to do with it. I was voting last night and I think it was my votes that put them over the top. And to make things even better – they represented Filipinos with so much PI Sun paraphernalia! Way to go guys! I am so happy I made you win. It was all me.

Okay, that’s a little bit of a reach, but come on, So Real? Really America? This is just proof of how this is more of a popularity contest rather than a competition based on merit.

You don’t know how many people called me last night after the show to tell me how pissed off they were that Fanny Pak went home. They were even madder at the fact that Super Cr3w was in the bottom two with them.

Isn’t it so funny how serious we take these shows? It’s like a matter of life and death. It’s as though the world will end if our favorite crew doesn’t win. Well, in this case, So Real has shifted the balance of the universe by, in some odd way, convincing America that they are better than two crews that are obviously more talented, creative and diverse.

I actually heard the results earlier in the day because of the through-the-grapevine network I am linked to in Texas. Apparently, they shot the show on Tuesday and the names of the final two leaked and it got to me around lunchtime yesterday.

Sure, So Real is a good crew, but they are just like any other Asian dance crew in the nation- maybe a little bit better, but they are not entertaining. They don’t have a “schtick” that makes them a unique crew. They are bland and I don’t see them at the same level as the crews that stand on the same stage. Their b-boy skills are limited, their athleticism is lacking and they’re youth shows with their blatant looks of naiveness.

Yes, I admit it, I am hating.

Fanny Pak shouldn’t have left and Super Cr3w’s name should’ve been called first. This makes me wonder why enough people didn’t call.

One of my friends brought up the fact that people on the West and East Coast don’t really care about MTV and they don’t watch shows like this. And people in the South do nothing but watch MTV. That’s a theory to consider – but I am sure the people just watch and they have strong opinions about the show and then they don’t vote.

But what can we do? America chose the crew they wanted on top. Is it the right choice? That’s up to your judgment. Mine? Super Cr3w needs to win. They are the definition of a crew. I mean, it says it in their name! That dude on Fanny Pak was right – vote for the right crew next week. Wow. Wouldn’t it be cool if people were just as passionate for the presidential election as they are for this?

Yes, Joshua won. I didn’t watch the finale. I did watch the performances last night and I wasn’t that excited. I am burnt out on SYTYCD. Or maybe I just lost all passion for it once Will and Chelsie left.

Well I heard that Mary Murphy danced with the shirtless wonder, Dmitry. I am so over the frozen-faced Murphy. I need a break from that mess.

And then I heard there was some pop-lock battle between two guys, they re-performed fave dance numbers from the season, etc…etc….etc…

Well, congrats Joshua. I guess we will just have to wait until next season so I could get excited over SYTYCD and then overdose on it like a crazed heroin addict.

…busted. It was only a snippet of the performance. Ah, well.

I am watching this show right now and so far the top two crews are: So Real and Super Cr3w – which means Fanny Pak and Boogie Bots are in the bottom.

It also means that Missy is lookin’ quite fierce tonight with her nails did, chunky rings and signature uber-swoop eye covering hair. And was it me or was she lip-syncing tonight?

Anyways, she’s crazy. She is outta control and I’ve loved her since that inflatable trash bag outfit in “The Rain” video.

So here’s how I break it down…

So Real: This performance was the first time I got excited for them. Like everyone else, I loved that intro to their “One Minute Man” routine. Good, concise choreography. And by the way, now that Ailyn’s parents are supporting her dancing, can we stop talking about that now? She’s on nationwide television. That’s all she needed to get love from her parents.

Super Cr3w: SICK. I hate using that word, but his was just out of control. Their song basically summed up their presence on the show: “We Run This.” If they don’t win, I am just going to ban this show from my TV for the rest of my life.

Boogie Bots: “I DO NOT GET EXCITED WHEN I SEE THE BOOGIE BOTS!” Busted. Neither do I. I did like that video game routine they did a while back, but since then, I’ve been…eh. This routine to “Work It” seems a little sloppy. It wasn’t captivating me, but it was okay. And now Shane just said, “I didn’t see one thing in there that tells me you should be on this show.” Hmmmm…I think I know who’s going home.

Fanny Pak:INSANE! FANNY PAK! FANNY PAK! FANNY PAK! THEY DEMOLISHED IT TONIGHT! “Get Your Freak On” indeed. Lil Mama got crunk with her critique – saying something like, “YAWL ARE PROOF THAT AN UNDERDOG CAN MAKE THEIR WAY TO THE TOP!” She was kinda angry but complimenting them at the same time. Oh yeah, it also seems that she resorted back to her collection of sequin baseball weaves. Man, if Fanny Pak ain’t in the top, I don’t know what I am going to do.

Side note: Missy didn’t really get crunk until she saw FP. AND it was the first time the judges gave a unanimous standing ovation!

Needless to say, we know who went home…

Anyways, after watching a really melodramatic group dance performance to Bette Midler’s “The Rose.” We were subject to solos that didn’t do anything to help with the contestants’ votes and about 40 minutes of commercials, we finally got to hear who the final four were…

Joshua and Katee were safe…of course.

Then it was down to four dancers: Twitch, Mark, Courtney and Chelsie.

Mark got cut. This wasn’t that much of surprise, but what was a surprise was the fact that Chelsie got jacked of a position from top four position from Courtney.

I am not a fan of Courtney. Chelsie grew on me as the resident tom boy with a lashing tongue. I was expecting to see her in the finals instead of the brunette cupie doll.

Oh yeah, I never mentioned anything about the performances last night…they were fun.

Can you tell I am ready for this season to be over?

This week was their “bring the beat” challenge, where the crews had to make “beats” to dance to. Kind of like “Stomp.”

Anyways, here’s my take for tonight. I’ll keep it short.

Fanny Pak: It was fun, quirky, silly and sassy. I liked it. I especially like how those two were boinking between the lockers and the fat boy. Fanny Pak is hot.

So Real: Cool performance, but I don’t understand why the judges love them. They have great choreography, but it seems like they don’t have an element in their bag of tricks that make them the it crew. And I need to say something about that girl who keeps complaining about her parents not supporting her. (warning: I am about to become an asshole – I’ve had a bad day, forgive me) She needs to stop throwing her parents under the bus and just PROVE that she can make this a career – and with this show, she is already doing so. Do you know how many Asian kids aren’t doing what they want because their parents aren’t supporting them? I was one of them and my parents eventually stopped hounding me once I proved that I can do this writing shit as a career. I feel like she’s using this little melodrama to win sympathy points because they keep on regurgitating this shit over and over again. Please – get a real story that has real issues (like being homeless, being deaf, having a dad in a coma). This problem pales in comparison to what other crews on the show are experiencing. Don’t use this cultural conflict as an excuse. Just do it and if your parents don’t support you, it should make you work harder. Stop complaining about it and do your thing. Okay, my rant is done. Bottom line: they were pretty good.

Boogie Bots: It was fun and creative. Funky and they brought some great moves to the stage. They didn’t necessarily “smash” it, but they did put a nice big dent into it. I liked the whole “benchwarmer” idea of the routine and that “Flashdance” reference was top notch.

So the bottom two were Super Cr3w and Supreme Soul…

Something is wrong here. These two crews were far better than anyone else on the show tonight. Like Shane said, people need to vote. I have come to the conclusion people aren’t basing it on talent. It’s become a popularity contest or people are just voting based on the crew that lives closest to them.

Pretty much unfair, but what can you do?

Super Cr3w is really talented and I don’t know why they keep on landing in the bottom. They killed it tonight with their high flying basketball routine. As for Supreme Soul their rank in the bottom is less surprising, but surprising nonetheless. Their position on the show has been oddly erratic. I thought their hockey routine was inventive and trademark SS – but in the end, they had to walk it out – it was very unfortunate.

Ah well, my Bay Area homeboys had to go home – even though they were better than some of the others who weren’t in the bottom two.

Lesson learned: VOTE.

Wow. I felt like a big ol’ blogging asshole tonight. It’s been a long day. I’ll be happier next week. I promise.

There were some minor fumbles here – but they were eclipsed by those intense lifts. The disco routines always make me nervous, they seem like they’re going to be fun, but then it just ends up stressing me out – but the routine captured that mirror-balled essence that made that disco era so much fun – without the drugs of course.

I like this couple. They also make me smile. I think they interest me more in the rehearsal studio.

This was fun!!! Everyone is doing well tonight! I am so proud for each and everyone of them!

As for Twitch and Katee, why didn’t they doing that “four finger shoulder salute” during the routine? And what does that stand for? I’ve been doing it a lot lately. It looks really good on me – but I digress again. The pair of them were sassy and played great characters and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Toni sure is using the term, “street” a lot tonight.
