I don’t know if this was a desperate attempt to stay on the show or if it was an attempt to bribe the judges (mainly Omarion) and the male viewing demographic with erection-worthy Asian fetish action. My guess it’s a combination of both. I guess sex sells even though this Britney-themed lip lock would’ve been really sexy if it were 2003. My suggestion to Hype 5-0 is to push the envelope a little bit more. Have two guys make out or maybe perhaps a hip-hop routine that mirrors the storyline of Equus – OR – they can even further exemplify the wonder of Asian culture, they should do a traditional Asian folk dance. Quest Crew How could I not support this crew? Plus, three of them were on SYTYCD, so it’s a given. It’s like a law. If you supported them on SYTYCD, then you have to support them on ABDC…and Hok’s hair alone is reason enough for me to give them half of my endorsement. Oh yeah, and they have the most awesomest B-boy skillz. (you notice how I spelled “skillz”"? The “z” makes me feel more street).

It’s funny – right after she called to invite me, I got an email from the PR people handling the concert and they asked me if I wanted a review ticket and to attend a press hour with some of the dancers. The reason for this was because I’ve already been to the previous two concerts that came through the Bay Area AND I did interviews with past cast members (I am saying this with a pompous grin). Unfortunately, I turned down the opportunity to speak with Twitch, Thayne, Katee, Joshua and all of the rest of the dancers because I had to work. With that, I had to turn down the ticket as well because I told them I already had a ticket and I thought it would be nice to attend the show as a “non press member” for a change.
Was that stupid of me? Actually, none of the dancers of this past season really intrigued me. They are talented, but I was over them. It was like old high school friends who you never kept in touch with inviting you out for dinner and drinks.

Despite the man sitting in front of me with a horrendous case of B.O. and a Debbie Downer face, the concert was fun. I tested my camera’s digital zoom feature and I surprisingly got some good pics! Do these stills look familiar? Well, they performed dances that they did on the show. If you can name all of them, I’ll give you a special prize…

A couple of weeks ago, I went to Macy’s Passport in San Francisco and I took Steve and Charles as my plus two. There was lots of food and I didn’t get hit on once. However, Charles and Steve did. I mean, why didn’t I get hit on? I am an angel. I am ethereal. And that is proven in the picture above with my halo (thanks Zaid for pointing that out). Honestly, I am not approachable. I have this mad dog look on my mug all the time. I look like a bitch. But hell, I am the Dino-Ray. Anyways, the food was fucking good. I interviewed Christian Audigier of Ed Hardy (no comment) and Tommy Hilfiger – BUT the biggest thing was when the Jabbawockeez peformed (along with TONS of other dancing!) Read more about it by clicking here, here, here and here! It was fun! Next up? Tomorrow I am going to the So You Think You Can Dance concert! Oh joy!

I won’t lie. I’m upset at America’s Best Dance Crew. If the way that America is voting for the crews on this show is any indication of how America is going to vote for our president, then I am moving to Canada. Okay, that’s a little bit of a reach, but come on, So Real? Really America? This is just proof of how this is more of a popularity contest rather than a competition based on merit. You don’t know how many people called me last night after the show to tell me how pissed off they were that Fanny Pak went home. They were even madder at the fact that Super Cr3w was in the bottom two with them. Isn’t it so funny how serious we take these shows? It’s like a matter of life and death. It’s as though the world will end if our favorite crew doesn’t win.

Well, in this case, So Real has shifted the balance of the universe by, in some odd way, convincing America that they are better than two crews that are obviously more talented, creative and diverse.

I actually heard the results earlier in the day because of the through-the-grapevine network I am linked to in Texas. Apparently, they shot the show on Tuesday and the names of the final two leaked and it got to me around lunchtime yesterday.

Sure, So Real is a good crew, but they are just like any other Asian dance crew in the nation- maybe a little bit better, but they are not entertaining. They don’t have a “schtick” that makes them a unique crew. They are bland and I don’t see them at the same level as the crews that stand on the same stage. Their b-boy skills are limited, their athleticism is lacking and they’re youth shows with their blatant looks of naiveness.

Yes, I admit it, I am hating.

Fanny Pak shouldn’t have left and Super Cr3w’s name should’ve been called first. This makes me wonder why enough people didn’t call.

One of my friends brought up the fact that people on the West and East Coast don’t really care about MTV and they don’t watch shows like this. And people in the South do nothing but watch MTV. That’s a theory to consider – but I am sure the people just watch and they have strong opinions about the show and then they don’t vote.

But what can we do? America chose the crew they wanted on top. Is it the right choice? That’s up to your judgment. Mine? Super Cr3w needs to win. They are the definition of a crew. I mean, it says it in their name! That dude on Fanny Pak was right – vote for the right crew next week. Base it on talent…and if you just don’t watch the show, just go to the MTV website and vote for Super Cr3w. Trust me, they deserve to win. Click here to vote. VOTE NOW!

Wow. Wouldn’t it be cool if people were just as passionate for the presidential election as they are for this?

One more thing – remember how David Silver was considered the best dancer at West Beverly High? And then he went on to have a singing career and have a swing at gangsta rap? That was awkward. Anyways, in the episode of the previous post, David finally entranced Donna with the art of dance, thus making them an official couple… This scene was too much to handle. I was cringing at and hypnotized by his tongue-wagging freak dancing. I would post video of this, but I think the following photo stills capture the dancing essence of David Silver. (if you scroll fast enough, it might be like a flip book!) Oh god. These close ups are the best ones! Now if this kind of dancing was on SYTYCD, I would DEFINITELY stay interested all the way through.

So last night was the final performances and tonight was the finale and all I have to say is THANK GOD it’s over… Yes, Joshua won. I didn’t watch the finale. I did watch the performances last night and I wasn’t that excited. I am burnt out on SYTYCD. Or maybe I just lost all passion for it once Will and Chelsie left. Well I heard that Mary Murphy danced with the shirtless wonder, Dmitry. I am so over the frozen-faced Murphy. I need a break from that mess. And then I heard there was some pop-lock battle between two guys, they re-performed fave dance numbers from the season, etc…etc….etc… Well, congrats Joshua. I guess we will just have to wait until next season so I could get excited over SYTYCD and then overdose on it like a crazed heroin addict. Wasn’t this post on the finale exciting?
