This year, more than ever, I got off my homely ass and actually ventured off into society to watch more shows than I normally do at SF Sketchfest — AND BOY AM I GLAD I DID!

Seriously. I’m glad I did.

There was funny all over the my lovely city and I spread my LOL seed everywhere possible. Here are some of my darlings of the fest.

Wet Hot American Summer: The Live Radio Play: This was probably the crowning moment sermon of the fest. Some of the original actors of the movie, Michael Ian Black, Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino, Christopher Meloni, Marguerite Moreau, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Molly Shannon, Michael Showalter, David Wain as well as other celebrity guests had a LIVE reading of one of the most culty scriptures known to man….AND I DIDN’T GO BECAUSE IT SOLD OUT. I am only 55 percent over it. (FML.)

The Groundlings: Beverly Winwood Presents The Actors Showcase: The improv company had a couple of shows and this is the one I went to (I failed to catch “The Black Version” — please don’t think I’m racist). In any matter, I was treated to a lampooning if the world of “acting” led by the glorious (and slightly delusional) Beverly Winwood. Also, Jennifer Coolidge.

Upright Citizens Brigade A.S.S.S.C.A.T.: Yet another show that I did not get to go to because it was reportedly sold out in under five minutes. FIVE. MINUTES. It is that serious. And it was probably just as funny. *SIGH* I am sure Amy Poehler missed me.

The SF Sketchfest Dozen: A finely curated bunch of on-the-rise comedians who will tickle your pickle. The group included the likes of Rachel Feinstein, Ron Funches, Nikki Glaser, Pete Holmes, Myq Kaplan, Moshe Kasher, Kyle Kinane, Jessi Klein, Morgan Murphy, Nick Thune, Brendon Walsh and Sheng Wang. Their performances were peppered throughout the festival and provided joy and wonder to all. You have changed my life forever.

The Paul F. Tompkins Show: Armed with nothing but his wit, his Sherlock Holmes style, the healing power of music and special guests Judy Greer, John Hodgman and Ted Leo, Mr. Tompkins show was SO brilliant that they had to add a second show.

Podcasts galore: RISK! Doug Loves Movies, The Nerdist — and many, many, many more. It has fueled my desire to start my own podcast. I am sure no one will listen to it, but at least I know that my voice is getting heard…by me.

SF Sketchfest has announced their lineup and it is quite fantastic if I do say so myself. Celebrating it’s 11th year, the San Francisco Comedy Festival will be honoring Eddie Izzard and the Upright Citizens Brigade. In addition, this year’s roster is filled with some top-notch performers that will spread joy, hilarity and possibly some awesomely offensive humor to the great city of San Francisco. Performers include Drew Carey, Jennifer Coolidge, David Cross, Rachel Dratch, Chris Elliott, Will Forte, Elliott Gould, John Hodgman, Sally Kellerman, Marc Maron, Bruce McCulloch, Christopher Meloni, Laraine Newman, Bob Odenkirk, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Molly Shannon, John Slattery, Kevin Smith, Reggie Watts, Fred Willard, The Groundlings, the geeks behind w00tstock, as well as the creators of Wet Hot American Summer.

The event starts January 19 and continues through February 4, 2012. Over the 17 nights, comedians will invade over 15 venues around the city.

Last week, I slapped on my red carpet gear and attended an event for the soundtrack of the movie at the Fillmore in San Francisco. Documenting it with my amateur FlipCam skills, I awkwardly interviewed soundtrack artists, Ryan O’ Neal, Matt Hales and Lucy Schwartz as well as Twilight stars Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone, Ashley Greene, and Charlie Bewley. I especially make a fool of myself while interviewing Nikki Reed. After our conversation, I am sure she thought I was the smartest reporter she has ever met.

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 opens in theaters Friday (as if I haven’t mentioned that enough).

Last night, the stars of Puss in Boots, Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek stepped on to the red carpet in San Francisco — and I was there. With nothing but my iPhone, my mediocre photography skills, my wits, a bag of trail mix and a bottle of SmartWater.

Oh red carpet — I have missed you so much: standing in the sardine-packed press line. Sweaty. Hungry. Greasy. Congested. Almost getting trampled. Getting hit in the head by rogue tripods. Fending off velvet rope crashers.

Believe you me — it’s a lot more fun than it sounds…

In addition to Antonio and Salma, flamenco dancers stomped there way down the red carpet whilst the REAL Puss in Boots and Kitty Softpaws (the characters they voice in the animated feature) walked down the red carpet hand-in-hand.

They are much taller in person.

Antonio and Salma, with their so-intoxicating-that-you-can-get-drunk Spanish accents, managed to address the crowd before they made their way down the red carpet gauntlet — and I caught it on video:

Stars of the upcoming movie, 30 Minutes or Less (in theaters August 12), Jesse Eisenberg and Aziz Ansari will be at Goathill Pizza (300 Connecticut Street in Potrero Hill) in San Francisco Wednesday, July 6 from 1:20 to 1:40 p.m. serving slices of pie to celebrate the release of their movie.

Advance screening passes will also be handed out — but come quick because the passes will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

Remember when I told you about those totally awesome culty, gory, bloody horror movies that will be playing for a limited time at select theaters? Well, let me remind you:

Each month, select AMC Theaters will show a new title every month from some of the best movies from the best film festivals (like that one in Toronto) that appeal to the sect of indie horror-obsessed fans. For those of you in San Francisco, the Metreon will be partaking in the fun; showing movies on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. and Fridays at midnight.

If you are a cool culty horror junkie like me, then you probably would love to devour these each month like a zombie.

Today, the experts of celeb fashion ridicule (and praise) Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan of GoFugYourself.com will be making an appearance at Macy’s Union Square in San Francisco — and I had the opportunity to interview them beforehand for SFGate.com.

Yes, this post is purely about shameless self/cross-promotion.

Jessica: Talking about celebrity outfits is entertaining! If it gets to the point where I find it doesn’t amuse me anymore, then we will be in a bad situation. We always say our job is to create procrastination material for people who have really important jobs.

Heather: I will never be bored with looking at pretty clothes. And I will really never be bored with looking at insane clothes. We always rub our hands together with glee when it’s awards season. From the Golden Globes to the Oscars to the Met Ball — which is probably the best than all the other ones combined. If we ever get bored of this, then I’ll just quit and move to Canada and buy an alpaca farm.

If you didn’t catch my tweet from earlier today, than you probably didn’t get the news about the sneak preview of the J.J. Abrams/Steven Spielberg super-secret alien flick known as Super 8.

Tonight, for all you San Franciscans (and those who are willing to cross a bridge to get here), the Metreon will be hosting a sneak peek of the movie brought to you by the folks at Twitter. Click here for all the details.

On Friday, Wondercon will descend upon the Moscone Center in San Francisco and geeks, freaks, and slightly delusional fanboys will flock to dive into an ocean of some of the best comic book artists & writers, seminars, workshops, collector booths, geek-out panels, special guests, and other cult-worthy fandom that unleashes the inner dork-beast in all of us — including me.

This a nice amuse bouche to the geeksplosion known as Comic-Con (July 21-24) and this year’s Wondercon is extra special — it’s celebrating it’s 25th year.

Although I do adore comics, my primary interest is in the impressive lineup of movie panels: Hanna, Super, Immortals, Priest, Cowboys & Aliens, and Green Lantern. Some panels will include exclusive, never-seen-before footage as well as actors and directors from the movie including people like the new Superman Henry Cavill for Immortals, Saoirse Ronan & director Joe Wright for Hanna, as well as Ryan Reynolds and his “makes me feel physically inferior” abs for Green Lantern.

Wondercon starts on Friday, April 1 and continues through Sunday, April 3. For a complete schedule of programming click here.

This gives you an opportunity to watch the movie before everyone else (it opens in theaters on April 1). The movie comes from the same dudes who introduced Saw to the world and I had the opportunity to see it a couple of weeks ago, and I managed to not wet my pants and sleep with the light on that night.

P.S. A word of advice: the earlier you get in line, the better your chances are to get a good seat in the theater!
