Even though SXSW is over, that doesn’t mean I don’t have more stuff to say about it. In fact, I still have many interviews, reviews and wrap-ups to post. Aren’t you EXCITED?! You will probably hearing about SXSW through the end of this month (with a brief break for The Hunger Games, of course). Considering I watched nearly 20 films (which is actually nothing compared to others) that played during the festival, I think that posting after the fact is more than needed. In any matter, I did manage to watch some short films — and here are three that caught my eye. Tumbleweed!: Directed by Jared Varava (who I chatted with in my Spreecast), this quirky little fable tells the “true and historically accurate tale of one tumbleweed that did not tumble.” The short reminded me of a fun Dr. Seuss tale — and that tumbleweed was just so darn cute. Would You:Dave Franco may have been at SXSW to promote his turn as the resident douche bag in 21 Jump Street, but he was also there to tell us all about his more modest short film, Would You in which two friends start to play a nice game [...]

The post SXSW Report Part 4: Three Short Films Worth Mentioning appeared first on the finer dandy.

Would You:Dave Franco may have been at SXSW to promote his turn as the resident douche bag in 21 Jump Street, but he was also there to tell us all about his more modest short film, Would You in which two friends start to play a nice game of ‘Would You Rather’. While doing so, their choices start to come true. That’s when the REAL fun starts!

Mouthful: During my screening of Gayby, there was a young gentleman by the name of Robert G. Putka sitting next to me. His SXSW badge noted him as a “filmmaker” so I asked him about his film. He was very energetic and genuinely interested about his short. So much that he gave me a screener — and I am glad he did. His film, Mouthful, takes a comedic look at a couple and their “discussion” about…dicks. It is damn funny.

Honorable mention: Glazin: Jacuzzi Boys. This was the short film that Ti West was talking about during the live recording of Doug Loves Movies at SXSW. If you would like to see singing vaginas, please watch this NSFW short. If not, then don’t watch it (but you are missing out).
